An employment expo in Brent resulted in 77 job offers been made by seven different employers.
The interviews took place at the West London Employment Expo that was held at the Brum, Brent Civic Centre, on Friday 9 February.
The aim of the expo was to offer an integrated package in supporting local people into work, through hosting discussions around potential career pathways, training support, job interviews and offers on the day. Over 621 residents attended the expo, with 103 attendees participating in on the day interviews. Nine different NHS teams promoted their services and career opportunities, and private sector providers also had a presence at the event. Training providers advised attendees on their respective services and how they could help with professional development and career progression.
The feedback from the event was very positive. Shaw Trust captured the feedback of 125 out of the 724 people who attended either the expo or interviews into work. 95% of those who participated found the event “useful”, and 99% found staff “very helpful”.
To ensure a holistic package was offered, health checks were also available on the day. The event was sponsored by North West London Integrated Care System in partnership with West London Alliance, and Shaw Trust.
Charlene Alfred, Programme Delivery Manager at NHS North West London, said: “I am really pleased with how this event went. I am glad so many residents were offered the chance of employment by a range of different employers. Thanks for the West London Alliance and Shaw Trust for partnering with us for this important training and recruitment opportunity. We are also pleased that more residents got the chance to get important health checks.” Also, local people heard that it is possible for them to also pursue a career in the National Health Service.”
