Statement regarding GP Pathfinders Clinics

26 November 2024

NHS North West London is investigating an issue related to incorrect patient registrations at GP Pathfinders Clinics. We were made aware in September 2024 that some patients at other practices from across north west London and the rest of England had unknowingly been registered with GP Pathfinders Clinics. Patients and other practices contacted us about their concerns.

A number of practices have reported that this has caused some confusion to patients and additional workload to re-register patients and, in a few cases, re-issue prescriptions.

We are treating this as a serious incident and are working urgently to resolve it. This involves working with GP Pathfinders Clinics, NHS England and other relevant agencies to determine what has happened, the cause and the solutions we can put in place to remedy the issues.

At our request GP Pathfinders Clinics has ceased all registrations of patients until further notice whilst we work together to establish the facts of what has happened.

We recognise the concern this has caused for practices and patients that have been affected. We are urgently working to resolve the matter.

For more information about this, please see our frequently asked questions below.

GP Pathfinders Clinics is a GP practice with a number of sites in north west London (Hazeldene Medical Centre, Crest, Eagle Eye and Chamberlayne Road Surgery). More information about the practice can be found on their website.

These patients will need to be re-registered with their original practice in order to get an appointment with their regular GP in the usual way.

It should be noted that no patient has been left without a GP during this incident, despite the incorrect registration to GP Pathfinders Clinics; however this should not take away from the seriousness of the situation and the inconvenience caused.

The practice is currently working through a list of patients and practices to contact that it believes have been impacted, and facilitating the return of the patients to their original practice of choice.

We recognise the concern this has caused for practices and patients that have been affected. We are urgently working to resolve the matter.

The practice has a large list of patients, many of which live outside north west London. However some patients living within north west London are registered at the practice.

GP Pathfinders Clinics offers the same range of services as a regular GP practice. Due to the number of out of area patients, the practice provides a comparatively higher level of virtual or remote services.

Patients should contact their usual GP practice directly if they are concerned or made aware that they have been incorrectly registered at GP Pathfinders Clinics. If necessary your GP practice will ensure you are re-registered with them and your records are updated.
