‘The Hewitt Review – an independent review of independent care systems’ has now been published. The published report includes recommendations that, if implemented, would impact North West London ICS and NHS North West London (the ICB), and all other ICSs and ICBs throughout England. The recommendations relate to the oversight and governance of ICSs, as well some of the functions held by ICBs.
The UK Government is now considering the recommendations and any next steps. You can find out more about the Government’s position here.
The UK Government asked Rt Hon Patricia Hewitt, Chair of NHS Norfolk and Waveney (the ICB) and Deputy Chair of the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Partnership, and formerly Secretary of State for Health, to undertake the review in November 2022. The publication of the report follows close work between Patricia Hewitt, ICSs and ICBs in recent months.
