North West London ICB is undertaking a new cervical screening innovation pilot, which is supported by the North West London Cancer Alliance and aligned with London’s wider self-sampling strategy. 8 GP practices across north west London to invite 1,000 patients (125 per practice) to trail the use of a diagnostic tampon. This is a new, more comfortable way to do their cervical screening through the SHINE-NWL pilot.

The SHINE-NWL Pilot: Testing in a Way That Works for You

8 GP practices in North West London will offer patients the chance to use the Daye diagnostic tampon kit to take their own sample — either:

  • At the GP practice, or
  • At home, at a time best for the patient and in their privacy.

The sample is sent to an NHS-approved laboratory and the results go directly and securely to the GP, who will contact you to let you know the outcome and discuss next steps if needed.

Patient Privacy and Results

Patient personal details and sample are handled safely and securely at all times. Results are sent through secure NHS systems straight to your GP practice. Only the patients GP team will make decisions about your care.
