Today we commemorate 76 years of the NHS! It is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements our healthcare system has made throughout the years. It is also an opportunity to thank the nearly 100,000 NHS staff, carers and their families who work in and support residents and health and care services in North West London. There are over 350 different careers in the NHS across England, with a dedicated careers page on our website covering NW London. Why not consider joining us to help make another 76 years of success?
Our successes wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our local authorities, community and voluntary sector organisations and the families and carers, along with others responsible for the delivery of health and social care. This includes our wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly, often taking the time to support us whilst having other roles or responsibilities.
I want to thank you, our residents, for making the NHS what it is today. Through our North West London Involvement programme many thousands of you get involved with the discussions and debate about our priorities and future direction. It’s important you continue to be engaged as ever, especially in our attempts to improve how local services are provided, improving health, making it easier to get care and reducing the inequalities that you face.
On that note, we recognise we still have much more to do to improve equality of outcomes. We know many communities are disadvantaged, but we hope our North West London ICS’s five-year plan will lead to substantial and tangible progress being made. The 5 year strategy and our associated Joint Forward Plan describes what we are setting out to do and how we care going to measure our progress over the years ahead.
