NHS North West London Integrated Care Board (ICB) intends to review its in 2026/27.
This revised timing allows North West London to align its work with several important developments:
- Pending publication of NICE fertility guidance: NICE is currently consulting on a revised national IVF guideline, with final publication expected in early 2026. The NWL ICB Policy Development Group (PDG) is committed to incorporating this updated national evidence base into its own review process.
- Equity and financial sustainability: The review will continue to reflect NWL’s commitment to reducing health inequalities, improving access to fertility services, and ensuring the responsible use of NHS resources.
A spokesperson for NHS North West London said:
“We recognise that fertility support is an important and often time-sensitive issue for many people. By aligning our IVF policy review with the upcoming NICE guidance and the NHS model changes, we can ensure that the revised policy is evidence-based, equitable and future-proof. Although this will mean a slightly later review date, it will allow us to provide a more robust and considered policy for our population.”
The current IVF policy remains in place until the review is completed.
