Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the name for a group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties. This includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
It's important to take good care of yourself if you have COPD. Make sure you take your medication properly, and stopping smoking can help slow down or prevent further damage to your lungs. Exercising regularly can help improve your symptoms and quality of life, as well as maintaining a healthy weight.
Everyone with COPD is also encouraged to have the annual flu jab and the one-off pneumococcal vaccination.
If you are worried about COPD, help and support is always available from your GP. Find out more facts about living with COPD on NHS Choices.
