London Ambulance Service awarded contract to provide NHS 111 service to North West London

10 November 2022

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) has been awarded a three-year contract to provide the NHS 111 service to the two million people who live in North West London, beginning on Thursday 17 November.

LAS will also take on responsibility for running the North West London Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) which helps us decide where patients who call-in would be best cared for.

Rob Hurd, Chief Executive of NHS North West London, said: “The awarding of the contract marks an important step forward in our plans to bring alignment and integration of 111 and 999 pathways and making sure we provide the best possible care to North West London residents using the service.

“The way 111 and CAS works with other parts of our NHS health care family, primary care, community and mental health will be key as we develop a fully integrated service that allows us to direct people first time to the most appropriate place for their care.”

Daniel Elkeles, Chief Executive of LAS, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the NHS 111 contract in north west London. Our hard working staff are experts in receiving and responding to urgent and emergency calls, and this latest development builds on our years of experience of hosting the NHS 111 service in south east London. It will allow us to bring together our emergency and urgent care services for an additional two million people, and we are very excited to begin.”
