There are a wide range of weight management services available across north west London to help you live a healthier life — whether you're just starting out or need more specialist support.
These services are organised into four "tiers" based on the level of support offered. You may be able to access some services directly, while others require a referral from your GP or healthcare professional.
Tier 1: Healthy living and self-care
This tier is all about prevention and self-help. It's ideal if you're looking to make small, sustainable changes to your lifestyle.

How to access:
These services are open to everyone and free to use — no GP referral is needed.
Tier 2: Free structured weight management programmes
Tier 2 services offer structured support through group sessions, nutritional guidance, and help with physical activity. They do not include medical or psychological treatment.
Available by borough:
- Kensington & Chelsea / Westminster - OneYou
- Harrow - Slimming World – GP referral needed for a free 12-week programme
- Hillingdon - Health, Lifestyle & Action
- Hounslow - Healthy Hounslow
- Ealing - Some GP practices run their own weight clinics – speak to your surgery for options
National programmes you may be eligible for via referral:
- NHS Digital Weight Management Programme
- NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme
- NHS Type 2 Diabetes Path to Remission Programme
Your community dietitian may also offer Tier 2 support if other programmes haven’t worked — speak to your GP.
Tier 3: Specialist weight management
The Kensington and Chelsea Specialisist Weight Management Service offers intensive, personalised support for people with severe obesity. A multidisciplinary team — including doctors, dietitians, psychologists and physical activity specialists — will work with you.
Who it's for - People living in Kensington & Chelsea and some parts of Westminster (if registered with a West London GP)
Where it's provided - Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
How to access - You must be referred by your GP.
Please note: Tier 3 services in north west London do not currently offer weight loss medication.
Tier 4: Complex obesity and bariatric surgery
This is the most intensive level of support, for people with severe and complex obesity. It may include bariatric surgery and is supported by a medical and psychological team.

How to access - You must be referred by your GP and meet specific eligibility criteria set by each provider.
Weight loss medication
NHS North West London is preparing for the rollout of Mounjaro (Tirzepatide), a new weight loss medication.
More information will be made available once it's ready for use in the NHS.
